VISITING THE PARK Allensworth is approximately 75 miles south of Fresno and
38 miles of Bakersfield. The closest neighboring town is Earlimart on
Highway 99, about 6 miles west of the park. The park is located 20 miles
north or Wascy on Highway 99, a43. colonel Allensworth State Historic
Park has a campground, day use picnic area and a Visitor Center that features
a 30 minute film on the Colonel and the town. Several of Allensworth’s
historic buildings have been restored or reconstructed, including the
Allensworth School, Singleton’s General Store, the Smith House,
the Allensworth Hotel, the home of Colonel Allensworth, and the Mary Dickerson
Memorial Library. California State Parks plan to continue the reconstruction
of the town’s appearance to recreate a time when Black pioneers
